TSSM avre, thanx for the detailed post of his awards… flt nice abt it.

Bharatha ratna annakke ondh reason ittu… Although there are many who claim to have invented chess, the most commonly held view is that it was invented and played in India accdg to Wiki. Since Anand (first indian)got the world number 1 for a game orignated india .. khushi aitu true bharatha ratna antha. Recognitions are form of encouragement and appreciatin ashte. One more concern was nation’s highest award innu yava sportspersongu bandilla ansutte. I have seen that in most summer camps /schools parents want their kid either to be “sachin” or “anand”😉 when he grows up…

  7. TSSM Says:

Usha Madam, Thanks for the comments.

Thanks to Vishy and his ilk, India can boast of a healthy string of Chess Champions.

The most interesting thing about Vishy is his consistency. He has consistently remained at the top. One player he couldnot overcome is Kasparov.

Comparisons are odious, but still, he is to Chess what Roger Federer and Pete Sampras are/were to Tennis, Schumacher to F1 Racing, Lance Armstrong to Cycling, Martin Frost to Badminton.

Let us not forget the ‘home brews’ – Prakash Padukone et al.

    Long live ‘sportspeople’
